the dead doctors conspiracy…or maybe just coincidence?

If something happens once, you can usually explain it away.  Twice, and it becomes a coincidence.  Three times?  It becomes a pattern.

Last week, I shared a link on our Facebook page about the murder of Dr. Teresa Sievers in her Florida home.  Sievers was a well-loved doctor and mother of two who lived in an upscale community. Dr. Sievers was on family vacation in Connecticut, but was killed when she returned home to Florida while her husband and children stayed behind.  My first thought?  It was the husband.  The classic “I was out of town so I couldn’t have done it” excuse we hear from husbands in basically 97% of Dateline episodes.  But then…

Yesterday, my mom sent me a link about three prominent alternative doctors who were found dead in a span of two weeks.  I first read about Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, who was found dead in a river with a gunshot wound to his chest.  His death was ruled a suicide by police, but his family believes it was homicide.  Dr. Bradstreet was a renowned Austism researcher with controversial views on vaccinations and treatments.  The week before his death, his office was raided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency.  The justification for that raid has not yet been made public.  At first glance, this case seems like a typical “oh s&*t, the government is investigating me and my life is falling apart” suicide case.  Not a huge red flag for me.  But then…

I read about the second doctor of the three found dead.  Dr. Bruce Hedendal was a beloved chiropractor and holistic practitioner, found dead in his car without any explanation.  I did a little research on Hedendal and read that he had previously fled the country to avoid tax evasion charges, but was extradited back to the U.S. and served about two years of a prison sentence.  Again, my first instinct was to point to the tax evasion charges and wonder if he was in trouble again and took his own life to avoid another embarrassment.  But then…

I read the name of the third alternative doctor found dead.  Dr. Teresa Sievers.  She was also a holistic doctor, a detail that was left out of the initial story I read about her murder.  So…Dr. Bradstreet was one death.  We can explain that away with a possible suicide.  Dr. Hedendal?  That sure seems like a coincidence.  But now Dr. Sievers, also?  Does this make a pattern of alternative doctors being murdered?  Am I out of my mind?  But then…

While researching for this post, I came across yet another alternative doctor who died unexpectedly in 2013…before the other three.  Dr. Andrew Moulden (who admittedly looks like he shared a publicist with Miss Cleo), was also outspoken in his opposition to vaccines and traditional medicine.  So now that makes four deaths of alternative practitioners and outspoken opponents of big pharma.  I mean…if three makes a pattern, what about four?
